BPS Governance App

One product for governance structure, delivery oversight and assurance evidence.

The BPS Governance App helps teams move from fragmented spreadsheets, slide packs and inconsistent updates to a structured governance record that can support programme boards, project boards and senior reporting.

What the product does

The application provides a practical digital workspace for the recurring governance tasks that programme and project teams already perform. It is not intended to replace professional judgement. It is intended to reduce avoidable inconsistency, make escalation clearer and improve the quality of the information available to decision-makers.

Current status: early UAT release. The product is suitable for demonstration, structured user testing and discovery with public-sector teams. Production deployment, support terms and commercial onboarding would be agreed separately.

Product modules

The first release concentrates on the minimum set of modules needed to run a credible governance conversation.

Portfolio and programme structure

Capture how delivery is organised across boards, projects and workstreams so that ownership and reporting routes are explicit.

Milestones and deadlines

Track formal milestones, target dates, RAG status and delivery confidence with sufficient clarity for board reporting.

Risks and issues

Maintain a structured register with ownership, mitigation, escalation status and filtering for governance packs.

Health check

Use focused prompts to review whether the programme has the right governance, capacity, controls and delivery grip.

Reporting exports

Generate board-ready PDF outputs and CSV extracts to support existing reporting cycles and management information needs.

Audit trail

Retain evidence of archived items, restored records and key user activity to support assurance and review.

Early UAT approach

Testing is designed to validate whether the tool works for real officers, not just whether the software functions technically.

UAT areaWhat is being testedEvidence sought
UsabilityCan officers understand the navigation, fields and reporting without extensive training?Observed user feedback, error points and requested simplifications.
Governance fitDoes the structure reflect how UK public-sector programmes and boards operate?Comparison against board cycles, reporting packs and escalation practice.
Reporting valueDo exports give senior officers enough information to support scrutiny and decision-making?Sample board packs, comments from SROs, PMO leads and programme managers.
AssuranceAre controls, roles, audit trail and evidence points sufficient for an MVP?Assurance log, issue list, technical backlog and remediation priorities.
